No risk of the string wrapping around the motor’s driveshaft and burning the motor or some of the internal sensors. Two AA batteries for powering the door are a great solution for those that don’t have power ran to the chicken coop. We found it easy to adjust the timer to open or close the door earlier or later by using a button on the unit.
